jonk ajax coLast month news broke that Ajax wanted to get rid of Jonk after disagreements on how the club is being run, which led to Johan Cruyff quitting as an adviser. However Jonk dug his heels in and continued working with the club as he sought a solution.

On Thursday though, Ajax released a statement on their official website which announced that Jonk had left the club.

The statement read, “Ajax and Jonk have mutually agreed that he will stop his activities by December 4, 2015. Ajax is looking for a suitable successor.”

Jonk himself is quoted by VI saying, “After Ajax has indicated not wanting me, I feel a lack of support and we have decided to separate. I don’t think it’s in anyone’s interest to fight it out before a judge.”

Jonk spent five years as a player with Ajax, before joining the club as a technology trainer in 2007. Since then he has worked his way to head of youth development, overseeing the talented U19 squad, from where Riechedly Bazoer, Donny van de Beek and Vaclav Cerny have recently been promoted to the first team.
