In January 2016, Cruyff convinced Bosz to leave Vitesse for Tel Aviv before the head coach took over at Ajax the following summer.
Cruyff said on Bosz ” The last images of my father were on a bench with Peter Bosz at Maccabi Tel Aviv. They were talking about football and Ajax. There awful lot of laughter too that afternoon.
”I spoke to my father about bringing Peter Bosz to Maccabi Tel Aviv. His first initial reaction was that it would be a good choice but he told me you will never be able to get him. When I managed bring Peter Bosz here was my father proud and he could not quiet believe that I managed to bring him here but he was happy about it.
”Peter Bosz is a nice guy who is always open to listening to others. The fact that he was a Technical Director in the past helped a lot when he was here at Maccabi Tel Aviv because he understands how everybody can think about a certain situation.”
Cruyff is enjoying his time as director and currently has no plans to move into management, ”It is not my ambition to be a manager I prefer the role of Technical Director. Although never say never in the future. I have my management diploma’s.”
On Ajax’s run to the Europa League final, Cruyff added, ”I am not amazed by what Ajax have achieved in Europe. If you look at the quality that Ajax have in their team and a manager who has good idea’s too.”
They will face Cruyff’s former side Manchester United, and he reflected on his time in England, ”I myself played 4 years at Manchester United. It’s a fantastic football club. But I would not say that I was happier there than at a small Spanish club in Alaves. I then I noticed that I prefer to be happy and feel that I can be important to a club and that gives me more satisfaction instead of being just a squad number at a big club.”
Cruyff also spoke about his father Johan, ”Of course I miss my father. We always had a fantastic relationship. The fact that so many people have so much respect for him and some even consider him their idol it makes me proud of him.”
