Feyenoord are due to face Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday, but the club announced on their website that captain Jordy Clasie will miss the tie after coming under serious interest from an unknown club. The club and Clasie have agreed not to let him play as long as the talks are ongoing.
Southampton are the most likely destination for the midfielder, as former Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman seeks a possible replacement for the departing Morgan Schneiderlin. However there are also other clubs chasing the 24-year-old including Italian side Lazio.
Feyenoord signed Marko Vejinovic last month, with the idea of the former Vitesse midfielder replacing Clasie when he leaves.
