Nicolai Jorgensen has signed a new deal with Feyenoord, binding him to the Rotterdammers until 2022.

Last summer the striker was hoping to leave Feyenoord but the offers never came. What followed was an injury hit campaign for the Dane, who has now decided that one more full season at De Kuip is best for his career.

The 26-year-old’s previous deal ended in 2021 but that has now been extended by one further year.

This will come as a big bonus to Jaap Stam who takes over a Feyenoord side that has lost Robin van Persie and Jordy Clasie, while Steven Berghuis and Tonny Vilhena are also expected to leave.

Stam told the Feyenoord website, “The club and Nicolai are sending a nice signal with this. Nicolai has proven to be one of the top strikers in the Eredivisie. With his experience, technical qualities and physical skills, he and the other attackers can make a difference for Feyenoord. I look forward to working with him. ”
