Jurgen Streppel, the new manager of SC Heerenveen, took charge of his first training session amid the news that the club have sold 13,000 season tickets for the new season. He spoke about his very young team. The hope of attracting new players and using the knowledge of the club icons during his tenure at the club.

Streppel said, “I have only taken a two week holiday and with the news about the season tickets you can see that this club is alive and is dynamic. Let’s hope that we in the coming days and weeks can attract new players to the club and then things will look promising” .
“We have a very young team the oldest player is 24 and we have introduced at 15-year-old player into the training. I must say this team appears too young to be able to perform at a consistent level.
“I get the impression that around SC Heerenveen there is always talk of the past in terms of the icons of the club such as Foppe De Haan although it would be crazy to not use the knowledge of those people whilst I am at this club “.
