The 18-year-old’s first career hat-trick led Ajax to a big win on Sunday but also broke a record in his family, with his father Patrick never managing to score a treble in the Eredivisie during his career.

Kluivert said, ”My father. My family and I can only be proud of my performance today.

”My first goal gave me the most satisfaction because we then went into the changing room at half-time with a different mentality.

”The equalizer was a crucial moment in the game. If we had gone it 1-0 down at half-time it would have been a different game.

”We played well second half with Donny, Hakim and Frenkie all providing good passes forward and we enjoyed ourselves.

”Frenkie De Jong provided such an impulse. He is so calm on the ball and provides good passes. He is a great player.

”I was hunting for my hat-trick and I was delighted to get it. After the game, I asked my teammates all to sign the match ball so in the future, I can remember who I played with in order to achieve my hat-trick.”
