Ferdi Kadioglu is staying patient as he waits to make his official debut for new club Fenerbahce.

The midfielder switched NEC Nijmegen for Fenerbahce in the summer but is still to make his debut for the Turkish side’s first team. He did make some minutes from the bench in Netherlands U21’s 3-0 win over Ukraine on Tuesday.

After the match he told VI, “It’s always nice to make minutes. Earlier against Latvia I stayed on the bench, now I was allowed to join in,. At Fenerbahçe I mainly make minutes in the youth teams. That is not what I came for, of course, but you have to be patient as a young player. I’m only nineteen. “

Kadioglu believes his debut is coming closer after a tough start in Turkey, “In fact, the preparation started pretty well. I trained and noticed that I could play football. Then things had to be arranged, including my passport. That took quite some time. Then followed a small dip, I felt that I was lagging behind the rest. It is precisely the last few weeks that I have noticed that it is getting better, that I am getting stronger.

“The trainer says I’m getting closer and so I can only be satisfied. It is a great city and I train at an absolute top level every day. Unfortunately, the club is a little less in the competition. And so it is a bit noisy. That belongs to a top club. If Ajax in the Netherlands would be fifteenth, it would also be noisy.”
