After a string of impressive performances, a number of foreign clubs have begun to show an interest in one of the Eredivisie’s leading stars. Following Karsdorp’s impressive display for Feyenoord this weekend against Heerenveen, culminating in his first goal for the Rotterdam side, his future has been subject to much debate.
Should he stay in the Eredivisie or move to another league and test his skills at a higher level?
Now, former Dutch international and RTL presenter, René van der Gijp has waded into the debate advising the twenty-one-year-old to stay put. On the Dutch Television programme, Voetball Inside, Gijp said, “For a boy [Karsdorp] it would be best to remain at Feyenoord for one or two years and grow into a really good right back, he must first be a solid international and then go abroad.”
Johan Derksen, another panellist on the show, backed up Gijp saying “He is developing really well [at Feyenoord].”
The debate will continue to rumble on all season, but it remains to be seen if any bids will convince Feyenoord to sell Karsdorp.
The player is currently valued at €4.5 million and under contract with the Eredivisie leaders until 2020.
He’s an absolute gem. Some premier league team is going to get a steal when they snap him up in the next year or two for half what they’d have to pay for an EPL RB.
An fun player to watch. Could be a mainstay for the national team for a long time.
