Karsdorp left Rotterdam for Rome two years ago but his time in Italy has been blighted by injuries.
Roma were willing to let the Dutch international depart this summer and Karsdorp had set his sights on a return to Feyenoord. With Jeremiah St Juste leaving for Mainz 05, the deal has become a reality with both parties confirming a season-long loan deal on Wednesday.
Speaking to the Feyenoord website, Karsdorp said on his return, “This feels very good of course.
“I spent two years in Rome and now I am rented to Feyenoord, which I actually wanted last season. In the end it didn’t go through, but I kept in good contact with Feyenoord. It was now clear to me that AS Roma did not want to continue with me and that I could be let. Then there is only one club for me and that is Feyenoord, especially if you have played very little for two seasons. This feels familiar, I didn’t even have to think about this. I want to be on the pitch as quickly as possible with these guys and look forward to it. “
Karsdorp is Feyenoord’s second signing on Wednesday after the arrival of George Johnston. They are still working on the arrival of Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Basel.
