According to Record, Sporting Club de Portugal will present Marcel Keizer as their new head coach on Friday.

The former Ajax boss, who is currently in charge of Saudi side Al-Jazira, has been heavily linked with Sporting since they sacked José Peseiro.

Al-Jazira were holding firm, but according to Portuguese newspaper, Record, an agreement has known been reached to dissolve the Dutchman’s deal. A fee of €530,000 has been agreed and Keizer will be officially presented on Friday.

Al-Jazira chairman Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi has reportedly confirmed Keizer’s departure on Twitter, stating, “We wish Keizer every success.”

Keizer had spells in charge of Telstar, Emmen and Cambuur before he took over Jong Ajax in 2016. A year later he was chosen as a replacement for Peter Bosz, but his time in charge of Ajax’s wasn’t a success and he was fired in December 2017. He then headed to the Middle-East to coach Al-Jazira.

Sporting, who have Bas Dost and Luc Castaignos in their squad, currently sit third in the Portuguese league/
