Keizer took charge of Ajax’s second string last summer, and led them to 2nd place in the Eerste Divisie whilst playing some excellent attacking football.

The Ajax board are said to be big fans of the 48-year-old and he has a good relationship with Dennis Bergkamp, who reportedly felt left out by Bosz.

According to VI, Ajax want to present a new head coach by the weekend and Keizer is a top candidate to get the job. Reading FC head coach Jaap Stam is also said to be on the shortlist. Stam was also head coach of Jong Ajax before leaving last summer to take charge of Reading. He has a good relationship with director Marc Overmars, who VI believe would favour him over Keizer.

Roger Schmidt and Erik ten Hag were linked with the position, but are now said to be out of the running as their style doesn’t fit with Ajax.
