Utrecht ended their slump with a 2-1 victory over Fortuna Sittard. Gyrano Kerk was the match-winner with a double.

After three games without a victory, Dick Advocaat rung some changes for the visit of Fortuna Sittard with Nick Venema picked to start up front alongside Gyrano Kerk.

After only four minutes the hosts had the lead with Nicolas Gavory crossing for Kerk to convert from close range.

Utrecht got joy in behind the Fortuna defence and Venema almost made it 2-0 but he was denied by Alexei Kosolev before Sander van de Streek fired the rebound over.

A minute before the break, Fortuna equalised with Andrija Balic firing past David Jensen.

After a slow start to the second half, Utrecht restored their lead in the 68th minute with Kerk tapping in from close range.

Kerk’s goal proved to be the winner and Utrecht moves up to fifth with the victory. Fortuna are 14th.
