Almere City v Jong Ajax
Almere were humiliated in Rotterdam last week after being beaten 6-1 by Sparta. The defeat saw them slip to seventh place and even worse, eight points from the top. Some changes will need to be made over the winter break if they want to push for a play off spot which looked so certain a month ago. Jong Ajax picked up another solid win against Oss, after overcoming Twente the week prior to that. This will be an interesting one and I expect goals. 2-2 | Over 2.5 Goals
FC Eindhoven v RKC Waalwijk
Another close one to call here, and I may have to predict another draw. Eindhoven are in decent form, however will be disappointed having failing to overcome a poor Jong Utrecht side at home last week. RKC on the other hand, come here full of confidence after picking up three points against MVV. I think the home advantage will mean Eindhoven take something here. 1-1
TOP Oss v Helmond Sport
Oss sit third in the second period standings and failed to take advantage of dropped points by the two sides above them; Den Bosch and Roda, after they lost against Jong Ajax. They have a brilliant chance here however to pile the pressure on against Helmond who shouldn’t pose too much of a threat. Having said that, they have performed immensely the past few games after a horrendous first couple of months. 1-0
Go Ahead Eagles v Den Bosch
Game of the week in Deventer and they don’t come much bigger than this. Go Ahead in third, take on top of the table Den Bosch who are only a point ahead of them. The away side will come here as underdogs though and I think their eleven game unbeaten run will come to an end in the east. 3-1 | Both Teams To Score
Jong Utrecht v Dordrecht
Dordrecht are now on a three game unbeaten run, the longest of their season. They travel to Utrecht who themselves have seriously tightened up their defence following an awful run at the beginning of November. I wouldn’t back many goals being scored here, and I think it could be another draw. 0-0
NEC Nijmegen v MVV Maastricht
NEC really need to win this one if they don’t want a mountain to climb in 2019. Twente are up next for them in Enschede which will be a big ask. The home side are without a shadow of a doubt the biggest underachievers so far this season, however they are still within a few wins from a play off spot, simply because no sides are running away with the league. 1-0
Roda JC v Volendam
A win here could put Roda top of the period standings with just two games to go. A real turn around from them who were stuck down in mid table earlier on in the campaign. They were one of the favourites to win this division in August, and a couple of wins before Christmas could put them well and truly back into contention. 2-0 | Roda to Win
Cambuur v FC Twente
Cambuur finally picked up a win after a five week wait against Jong PSV, with a late winner. Twente on the other hand, returned to winning ways despite another poor performance away at Volendam. Anything other than a win isn’t acceptable here for Twente, who still sit four points off Den Bosch in first place. 2-2
Telstar v Jong PSV
I can’t remember the last time I backed Telstar, despite them having a comfortable season. Part of me wants to here, however I feel Jong PSV will be too strong from them. The away side lost late on to Cambuur last week which may knock a bit of confidence off Toon Gerbrands’ players. 1-2
Sparta Rotterdam v Jong AZ
To finish off the week, Sparta take on Jong AZ. The home side went three games without a win, however they put that form to bed with a 6-1 demolition of Almere. They should find this one fairly comfortable, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned to the top of the table come 8:45pm Friday. 4-0 | Sparta Clean Sheet
