Vitesse Arnhem right-back Kevin Diks has joined Italian Serie A side Fiorentina on a five-year contract.

The Italian side presented their new signing at a press conference after Diks passed his medical examination and penned a contract with the club. The transfer fee is thought to be around €3 million euros.
Diks is a product of the football academy in Vitesse and has played for the club since 2005, coming through the youth set up. He made his debut for the first team away against PEC Zwolle in 2015, eventually losing the match 2-1, but cemented his place over the course of the season. After a number of impressive displays Diks signed a new contract until 2018, but Vitesse have now decided to cash in.
Vitesse Technical Director, Mo Allach, spoke about the transfer on the official website, saying “This is a transfer that works out well for everyone. We are happy with the deal and for Kevin it is a wonderful step. Also it is a good signal that we ourselves can sell educated youth players for an attractive amount to a big club abroad. That makes us proud.”
Kevin also gave his reaction to the transfer thanking Vitesse and their fans for the time he spent at the club. He told the official website “It all went very fast. From the summer of 2014, one highlight followed the other. I remember my first match at the Gelredome. It was the practice match against Chelsea FC, when I played for the first time with my last name on my back. My debut in the away match against PEC Zwolle, my first goal, and so on. I’ll always hold a soft spot for Vitesse and supporters. It was a difficult decision. I want to thank the supporters from Vitesse and all employees and volunteers. I’ll never forget what they did for me. ”
The nineteen-year-old right-back made sixty-three appearances for the Vitesse first team scoring two goals and contributing four assists. Fiorentina qualified for Europa League after finishing a disappointing fifth in Serie A last season.
