The 19-year-old is set to leave Ajax this summer after refusing to sign a new deal in Amsterdam and has been linked with several big clubs around Europe.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Kluivert has agreed personal terms with AS Roma on a five-year-deal which will earn the youngster €1.5 million a year.
However, Roma are yet to agree a fee with Ajax for the winger with the Eredivisie side reportedly asking for at least €20 million, despite Kluivert being in the final year of his contract.
No creo que acepte esa miseria de sueldo por temporadas, esas son noticias falsas, cualquier jugador mediocre tiene ese salario y mas tambien, estamos hablando de un chico llamado a ser grande
May he rot on the bench there. I can understand if Ajax fans resent him for this. One solid but unspectacular year with the club than the spoiled brat feels he’s ready for a much bigger stage.
The ego on this kid is truly astounding, but he’ll pay the price for it soon enough.
Well stated
true words
Sorry Bobby but what your saying is a bit ignorant, even if the sentiment is understandable.
Firstly, we should want him to be a success wherever he goes.
Secondly, you have to ask yourself is staying at Ajax the best thing for his development at this stage of his career – compared to other opportunities. I’d argue no it isn’t, as things stand. The quality of the first team, the quality and competitiveness of the eredivisie, the opportunity to be play competitivly at European level just aren’t what they used to be at Ajax. Sad fact.
The question is if he is not going to stay to further his development then where should he go. Is running at Italian defences at his age with his physical build the best thing?
I think his best two options are to go to Man City youths with Pep and try and break into the first team OR go to a mid table Spanish team for one or two years. Either way he goes having to prove himself at a more competitive place with harder question being asked of his ability than staying with Ajax.
While I don’t support Kluivert’s wage demand, it’s about time someone called out one of the big clubs in the Eredivisie for wanting to sign a player to a new contract, for the sole purpose of increasing his sale price. He knows that Ajax would still sell him sooner than later even if he signs a new contract. Maybe this is the spark that starts to turn Dutch football around.
I also don’t believe for one second that Kluivert would want to stay in the Eredivisie for another 5-6 years, but the clubs need to get back to signing players to new contracts for the purpose of keeping them for the duration of said contracts.
if he is on the final year of his contract why would Rome pay Ajax a transfer fee ?????
In 2 years back in nederland can play for nac breda or pec zwolle..no one is bigger than Ajax..
I agree to many Dutch Players have one good season and then there off. Only to return when they find they can’t cope. Sady the Bosman ruling has and will continue to destroy Dutch Football.
The Dutch FA are also to blame with both Eredivisie and eerste division(jupiler league). Not challenging enough or competitive enough. Both leagues need an massive revamp.
