Justin Kluivert is frustrated by the Coronavirus outbreak but is now determined to prove he deserves a spot in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2021.

The winger had been in good form for AS Roma in recent weeks and was named in the provisional Netherlands squad for the now cancelled friendlies with the USA and Spain.

Speaking to VTBL, Kluivert said, “Before the corona crisis broke out, I was feeling good. After my injury it went well. I was happy and was also in the pre-selection of the Dutch national team. I was hoping to be in the final selection, but something came up … Nobody saw this coming. Football is not the most important thing at the moment. Health is of course.

“I can only try to be there again when the virus is over. Then show that I belong to the Dutch national team. That is and remains my goal. Wearing that orange shirt is the best thing there is,”

The 20-year-old has seven goals and two assists in 27 games for AS Roma this season. He has two Netherlands caps so far.
