On Friday night, Justin Kluivert captained Netherlands U21’s but he is aiming for a recall to Ronald Koeman’s squad.

While Netherlands were taking on France in the Nations League, Kluivert was in Germany captaining Jong Oranje in a 3-0 defeat to their neighbours.

After the game, Kluivert told FOX Sports, “It is an honour to be captain of your country, but unfortunately it was not a good result,

“It’s the first time with these guys, I’ll compliment them, it’s a learning opportunity for us, we’re not together for so long, Germany is at full strength, I’m proud of the boys.”

Asked if he hopes to return to the full Netherlands squad next time, Kluivert said,  “That’s not for me to say, but I’ll do my best to make it as difficult as possible for the trainer, and of course I hope to play football in the big Dutch national team.”

Kluivert currently has two caps for the Dutch national team.
