The KNVB, Netherlands internationals and ING have set up an emergency fund to help amateur and professional clubs struggling financially during the corona virus crisis.

The KNVB have already announced that amateur football will not resume this season, while professional football has no return date as of yet. Because of the lack of games, several clubs are struggling financially and could run into big problems.

The KNVB have now announced that along with ING bank and donations from Netherlands international players, a fund has been set up to help any clubs struggling financially. It has raised €11 million which will be split 50-50 between professional and amateur clubs.

Players from the Netherlands national team, both men’s and women’s sides, along with Jong Oranje have all contributed.

On Tuesday, the KNVB will discuss with professional clubs whether the season can resume.
