Ajax are safely into the third round of the KNVB Cup after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles.

After PSV’s shock exit on Tuesday, Erik ten Hag didn’t follow Mark van Bommel in changing his full eleven. Donny van de Beek, Lasse Schone and Daley Blind remained in the side, but there was places for Vaclav Cerny, Mitchel Bakker and Perr Schuurs.

Ajax started slowly but took the lead in the 35th minute when David Neres beat his marker easily before firing into the bottom corner past Go Ahead goalkeeper Hobie Verhulst.

It was 2-0 before the break as Zakaria Labyad found the net thanks to an error from Verhulst. In the second half, Ajax remained in control and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar netted the third just after the hour mark.

The last thirty minutes was a stroll for the home side who missed several chances to add a fourth but in the end, they are safely into the third round.
