The KNVB Cup second round concluded on Thursday and below we round up all the action.

Groningen 2-3 Spakenburg

Groningen are struggling in the Eredivisie and now they are out of the KNVB Cup after an embarrassing defeat to amateur side Spakenburg.

Spakenburg are seventh in the third level of Dutch football but they took the lead in the Euroborg after ten minutes with Youri Koelewijn firing past Michael Verrips.

After 32 minutes it was 2-0 as Floris van der LindenĀ netted a penalty which led to crowd chants of “Shame on you” from the home crowd. The game was stopped after an hour for a while after a Spakenburg player was struck by an object thrown from the crowd.

Van der Linden added a third from the penalty spot before Groningen threatened a comeback with Damil Dankerlui netting a double. However, Spakenburg held on through stoppage time to seal a famous win.

Groningen can now fully focus on their relegation battle.

Blauw Geel ’38 1-3 Utrecht

Utrecht are safely through to the next round with a simple victory.

The Eredivisie side netted three goals in the first half through Sander van de Streek, Jens Toornstra and Anastasios Douvikas.

In the second half, Utrecht eased off the gas and the amateur hosts did pull one back through Ben van den Nieuwenhof. There was never a chance of a comeback though.

Feyenoord 3-1 PEC Zwolle

Feyenoord came back from an early deficit to seal their place in the next round.

After only three minutes, Haris Medunjanin stunned De Kuip with the opener for PEC Zwolle. However, Mats Wieffer, making his first start for Feyenoord, equalised after half an hour.

Wieffer then set up Danilo for a simple finish to make it 2-1 before the Brazilian sealed the victory in the second half.

Feyenoord are through but an injury to David Hancko will be a concern for Arne Slot.

Other results: Heracles 0-1 Go Ahead Eagles, SV Urk 0-3 VV Katwijk
