The second round of the KNVB Cup continued on Wednesday evening with several Eredivisie sides in action. Below is a round-up of all the results.

Heracles 0-2 Vitesse

Vitesse are safely into the next round after a victory over Heracles in Almelo. Martin Odegaard set Vitesse on their way with a great strike on 40 minutes before young striker Thomas Buitink sealed the win in the final moments.

AZ Alkmaar 2-0 VVV Venlo

After three losses in a row in the league, AZ Alkmaar got back to winning ways in the cup.

After a goalless first half, Mats Seuntjens opened the scoring seconds after the break. Oussama Idrissi then made it 2-0 late on before winger Calvin Stengs made his return from injury after more than a year out. In the final seconds, Guus Til went down and AZ got a penalty, which Stengs was allowed to take, but the forward saw his spot-kick saved.

Groene Ster 1-3 Heerenveen

Heerenveen were forced to come from behind to book their place in the next round at the expense of Groene Ster.

Chefrino Eind gave the amatuer side the lead just before the break but Heerenveen quickly equalised in the second half through Ben Rienstra. Goals from Arber Zeneli and Sam Lammers then sealed a win for the Frisians.

Willem II 5-0 Spakenburg

Willem II are comfortably into the third round after putting five goals past Spakenburg.

Fran Sol scored the opener in the first ten minutes before Daniel Crowley netted a second before the break. In the second half, Donis Avdijaj netted a double to make it 4-0 before Sol wrapped up the scoring.

Utrecht 5-1 ASWH

Utrecht were given a minor scare before they comfortably defeated amateur side ASWH.

Dick Advocaat’s side took the lead early on through Gyrano Kerk but ASWH equalised thanks to Jesper van den Bosch.

Joris van Overeem restored the Utrecht lead before ASWH were reduced to ten men when Clarence Bijl saw his second yellow. Utrecht then eased to victory with Sander van de Streek netting a double before Cyriel Dessers made it 5-1.

Emmen 1-3 Odin 56

The big shock of the evening came in Emmen where the Eredivisie side were knocked out by amateur side Odin 56.

Glenn Bijl had given Emmen the lead with a great strike from distance but Odin 56, who play in the third division, battled back. Ahmed el Mahdi equalised and fifteen minutes from time, Nigel Hardenberg made it 2-1 from the spot. Hardenberg then headed in a third for Odin 56 who sealed an unlikely place in the third round.
