The KNVB Cup second round began on Tuesday with five ties, including wins for FC Twente and PSV Eindhoven.

FC Twente 3-1 Telstar

FC Twente were the first club to book their place in the last 16 as they eased to victory over Telstar.

Without the ill Ramiz Zerrouki, Twente took a two-goal lead into half time thanks to a double from winger Daan Rots. Firstly, the winger tapped in from a Sem Steijn cross before he finished off following a Manfred Ugalde strike that came back off the crossbar.

In the second half, Virgil Misidjan added a third before Thomas Oude Kotte pulled back a consolation.

Twente were then boosted by the return of both Wout Brama and Christos Tzolis, who have been out for months.

Sparta Rotterdam 1-2 PSV Eindhoven

PSV are into the last 16 of the cup after a slender victory over Sparta Rotterdam.

At the weekend, the two sides played out a 0-0 draw, but this time, Ruud van Nistelrooy brought in Erick Gutierrez from the start. The midfielder was excellent in the first half and he set up Xavi Simons to fire PSV ahead. Before the break, Noni Madueke doubled the lead.

An error from Joel Drommel gifted Arno Verschueren a goal to give Sparta Rotterdam hope in the second half. Koki Saito was close to the equaliser but his shot hit the crossbar, while Simons was denied by Nick Olij at the other end.

Drommel made up for his error in stoppage time as he made a world-class save to deny Tobias Lauritsen and PSV progress.

Other results: NAC Breda 2-1 FC Eindhoven (AET), Kozakken Boys 1-3 ADO Den Haag, HV & CV Quick 1-4 De Graafschap
