AZ Alkmaar are safely into the KNVB Cup quarter-finals after a comfortable 2-0 victory at Top Oss.

After two losses in a row in the Eredivisie, AZ headed to a foggy Oss looking to get back to winning ways and book their place in the last eight. Arne Slot brought Ramon Leeuwin in for Ron Vlaar but otherwise stuck with a strong line-up.

AZ dominated from the start with Calvin Stengs causing the hosts plenty of problems, but Ronald Koeman JR’s goal remained unscathed in the opening stages.

Eventually in the 36th minute, AZ Alkmaar had the lead with Dani de Wit finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Seven minutes into the second half, De Wit was pulled down in the box and Teun Koopmeiners doubled AZ’s lead from the penalty spot.

From that point the game was an absolute stroll for AZ, who handed a debut to Hakon Evjan, their new midfielder that joined the club this month.

AZ become the first club in the draw for the KNVB Cup quarter-finals and can take some confidence into their clash with Heerenveen on Saturday.
