The KNVB Cup second round continued on Wednesday night with AZ Alkmaar, Heracles Almelo and Willem II all in action. Below is a round-up of the results.

AZ Alkmaar 3-0 RKSV Groene Star

AZ Alkmaar saw of amateur side RKSV despite being reduced to ten men when Jordy Clasie saw red.

Arne Slot decided to give Myron Boadu and birthday boy Calvin Stengs a rest with Ferdy Druijf and Zakaria Aboukhlal starting in attack.

Druijf hit the post early on as AZ Alkmaar dominated proceedings but they could not find the opening goal.

In the 55th minute, AZ were reduced to ten men when Clasie was shown a straight red card for a last man challenge.

Despite playing with ten men, AZ took the lead five minutes later when Druijf tapped in. Before the end, Jonas Svensson and Dani De Wit netted to make it 3-0 at the end.

Heracles Almelo 3-0 Dordrecht

Heracles Almelo had no trouble with Dordrecht to book their place in the third round.

Cyriel Dessers fired the hosts ahead in the first-half before Silvester van der Water doubled the lead after 50 minutes.

Tim Breukers sealed the comfortable victory four minutes from time.

Willem II 3-0 Sparta Rotterdam

In the night’s all Eredivisie affair, Willem II continued their excellent form with a comfortable win over Sparta Rotterdam.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Vangelis Pavlidis took advantage of a scramble in the box to fire in. Mike Trésor Ndayishimiye quickly doubled the lead before the Belgian set up Che Nunnely with a stunning pass to add a third before the break.

The second half was a stroll for the hosts, who take their place in the third round.
