The final two games of the last 16 round of the KNVB Cup took place on Thursday with Feyenoord and Roda JC booking their place in the last eight. Below is a round-up of the action.

Feyenoord 3-1 Heracles

Feyenoord are safely into the quarter-finals after a 3-1 win over Heracles in De Kuip.

The hosts took the lead after only seven minutes when Tonny Vilhena’s cross was cleverly left by Dylan Vente and reached Steven Berghuis at the far post. The winger hammered the ball past Bram Castro from close range.

Feyenoord poured forward and on 16 minutes, Sven van Beek doubled their lead with a looping header that flew over Castro and into the bottom corner.

It seemed Heracles were in for a long afternoon but on 23 minutes Tim Breukers slid the ball past Brad Jones to pull one back and give the visitors hope.

After the break, Feyenoord dominated possession but struggled to kill the game. Eventually a third goal did come just before the end from the penalty spot. Jean-Paul Boetius was brought down in the box and via VAR, Bas Nijhuis pointed to the spot and Berghuis fired in the spot-kick to seal Feyenoord’s victory.

VVSB 0-1 Roda JC

Roda JC are into the last eight after a slender win over amateurs VVSB despite being reduced to ten men.

Dani Schahin headed in the only goal early in the second half, but the forward was then shown his second yellow card on 55 minutes. The hosts had over half-an-hour to find an equaliser Hidde Jurjus was barely troubled as Roda JC comfortably held on.
