The KNVB Cup first round continued on Wednesday with eight Eredivisie sides in action.

Heracles Almelo 4-3 RKC Waalwijk

The only all Eredivisie clash of the night was an eventful affair in Almelo.

Heracles appeared to be easing into the next round when Cyriel Dessers and Silvester van der Water put them 2-0 up within the first 35 minutes. However, on the stroke of half time, Darren Maatsen pulled one back for the visitors.

Eight minutes into the second half, RKC equalised through Sylla Sow before Dessers made it 3-2 for Heracles moments later.

Clint Leemans made it 3-3 from the penalty spot but Van der Water ensured that Heracles made it into the next round with the winning goal in the 70th minute.

HV & CV Quick 0-4 Willem II

Willem II eased into the next round with a simple 4-0 victory thanks to a hattrick from winger Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye.

The Belgian forward’s treble was followed by a late fourth by Paul Gladon.

RKSV Groene Star (P) 2-2 VVV Venlo

VVV Venlo are out of the KNVB Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to amateur side RKSV Groene Star.

Groene Star then took the lead in the 84th minute through Maikel van Kesteren and that appeared to be the winning goal. However, in the fourth minute of injury time, Haji Wright took the game to extra-time.

There was to be no winning goal in extra-time and in penalties, Groene Star triumphed 4-2 with Wright missing the decisive spot-kick.

Excelsior Maassluis 0-3 Heerenveen
