PSV Eindhoven’s horrible season took another turn for the worse as they were knocked out of the KNVB Cup by NAC Breda. The hosts won 2-0.

PSV Eindhoven went into the clash determined to reach the quarter-finals with their European campaign over and the chances of them winning the league very slim.

However, PSV’s form did not improve in Breda and they struggled to trouble the Keuken Kampioen Divisie side in a goalless first-half.

At the break, Sam Lammers made his long-awaited comeback from injury but the striker could not make an impact.

In the 54th minute, Arno Verschueren set Othman Boussaid free on goal and he made no mistake to fire NAC Breda in front.

PSV’s night then got worse on the hour mark as Timo Baumgartl saw red for bringing down Boussaid. With ten men, PSV looked deflated and Ivan Ilic struck the killer blow with 17 minutes left.

NAC Breda progress to face AZ Alkmaar in the quarter-finals.
