PSV Eindhoven are into the KNVB Cup quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat VVV Venlo 4-1.

The Eredivisie leaders struggled to get going in the Philips Stadion with a Marco van Ginkel header which was well kept out by Delano van Crooy their only real opportunity in the first 40 minutes.

VVV defended deep but took the lead on 41 minutes when Moreno Rutten raced into the box before cutting past Steven Bergwijn and firing low past Jeroen Zoet. The goal woke PSV up and they equalised deep into first-half injury time as Luuk de Jong struck Daniel Schwaab’s long ball past Van Crooy.

In the second half, PSV went in search of the lead which eventually came in the 66th minute when Van Ginkel was left completely free at the back post to hammer Gaston Pereiro’s free-kick into the net.

Hirving Lozano made it 3-1 on 79 minutes with a fine run into the box and low finish into the bottom corner before Nicolas Isimat-Mirin completed the scoring in injury time.

PSV move into the last eight of the cup while VVV are now free to completely focus on staying in the Eredivisie.
