kuyt fey jjThe early kick off was an all Eerste Divisie clash between RKC and Helmond Sport in Waalwijk. The home side took the lead on 37 minutes through Rigino Cicilia, but Carlo de Reuver leveled things up for Helmond Sport just before half time. It was to be the away side who snatched the win as Roel van de Sande netted the winner on 83 minutes to send Helmond Sport into the third round.

The final tie of the round saw Feyenoord host 2014 winners and last years finalist PEC Zwolle at De Kuip with the home side running out 3-0 winners. After 19 minutes Feyenoord had the lead as Karim El Ahmadi’s cross was turned into his own net by Dirk Marcellis. On the hour mark Michiel Kramer took advantage of a terrible backpass to set up Dirk Kuyt for Feyenoord’s second and the forwards first goal from open play since rejoining the club. Kuyt then sealed the win nine minutes later, finishing after Kramer saw a shot parried by Mickey van der Hart.

The draw for the third round takes place at 10.30pm on Thursday evening.
