AZ Alkmaar then sneaked past Eerste Divisie leaders NEC Nijmegen 2-1 thanks to a double from Maumer Tankovic. The on loan striker opened the scoring after 33 minutes before adding a second from the penalty spot in the second half. NEC pulled one back from Anthony Limbombe, and although the Eerste Divisie side put pressure on AZ towards the end they could not force extra time.
Groningen sealed their place in the quarter finals with a routine 3-0 win over Volendam at the Euroborg. Winger Mimoun Mahi opened the scoring a minute before the break, and in the second half a penalty from Nick van der Velden and a Michael de Leeuw strike sealed the victory.
