The earlier kick off saw Twente prove too strong for Eerste Divisie side Achilles’29 with Luc Castaignos netting a double.

Twente were ahead on 11 minutes when Youness Mokhtar found the top corner with a free kick and three minutes later Luc Castaignos doubled the lead with a fine strike from a tight angle.

In the second half Castaignos volleyed home Hakim Ziyech’s cross to make it 3-0, before the home side netted a consolation goal when Thijs Hendriks capitalised on a short backpass to net past debutante Sonny Stevens.

Two goals in the opening 18 minutes handed PSV Eindhoven a comfortable 2-0 win over fellow Eredivisie side Utrecht.

PSV were ahead within the first two minutes as Jetro Willems bamboozled a defender on the edge of the box before sending a powerful strike into the bottom corner. Fifteen minutes later Santiago Arias burst down the right hand side and his cross into the box was turned into the net by defender Yannick Cortie.

Utrecht created chances to get back into the match, but Remko Pasveer kept out Tommy Oar, and Rubio Rubin.
