NEC Nijmegen 4-0 Sparta Rotterdam
NEC Nijmegen eased into the next round with a 4-0 thumping of in-form Eerste Divisie side Sparta Rotterdam.
Gregor Breinburg put the Eredivisie club in command with two goals before the break. The midfielder fired a low shot into the bottom corner on four minutes before seeing another long range effort deflected into the back of the net.
Ten minutes after the break Navarone Foor slotted in from close range for the third and before the end Christian Santos curled a free kick into the bottom corner to complete the rout.
Telstar 0-1 AZ Alkmaar
A solitary goal from Joris van Overeem was enough to see AZ Alkmaar reach the fourth round at the expense of Telstar.
The midfielder pounced in the 67th minute to fire into the bottom corner. It could have been more comfortable for the Eredivisie side but Robert Muhren saw a late penalty saved.
Heerenveen 1-0 Helmond Sport
They may be struggling in the league but Heerenveen are into the last 16 of the cup after a tight 1-0 win over Helmond Sport.
The Eerste Divisie sideĀ frustrated Heerenveen early on, but after Henk Veerman went close twice with his feet the tall striker headed in Caner Cavlan’s cross to break the deadlock.
The goalscorer was shown a straight red card in the second half for a poor tackle onĀ Aleksandar Bjelica, but Helmond Sport couldn’t find an equaliser.
