Utrecht have qualified for the KNVB Cup quarter-finals after an after extra-time 2-1 victory over FC Eindhoven.

Jeroen Zoet was criticised for his performance on his Utrecht debut in the 3-3 draw with PEC Zwolle at the weekend. The on loan PSV goalkeeper started against FC Eindhoven but was again at fault as the hosts took the lead in the 37th minute.

Samy Bourard’s strike from a tight angle caught out Zoet, who was wrongly positioned to make the save at his near post.

Utrecht were poor and decided to bring on new signing Kristoffer Peterson at the break. On the hour mark, the Swede played a role as Utrecht equalised through Issah Abass.

Abass thought he had won the game for Utrecht when he had the ball in the net again but this time it was ruled out for offside and the tie went to extra-time.

Jean-Christophe Bahebeck came off the bench to be the hero for Utrecht with the winning goal in the 112th minute.

Utrecht join AZ Alkmaar in the draw for the quarter-finals.
