Tuesday morning brought news that Henk ten Cate had turned down the chance to replace Danny Blind as national team boss after being offered the role by KNVB director Hans van Breukelen.

NOS are now reporting that the KNVB are moving forward with Dick Advocaat and have already contacted Fenerbahce to work out a deal. Possible assistants have also been discussed with Advocaat, who would be taking charge of the national team for the third time.

The 69-year-old is still under contract with Fenerbahce until the end of their season, which could be in June. However, the KNVB are looking for Advocaat to leave sooner so he could take charge of their friendly at the end of May against Morocco.
