After their Champions League exit in midweek, there have been several reports that Barcelona could say goodbye to Valverde, who is still contracted at the club until 2020.
Jugones, who broke news of Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid earlier this season, are now reporting that Barcelona’s two main candidates to replace Valverde are Ronald Koeman and Erik ten Hag.
Netherlands boss Koeman is the first choice due to his past with the Catalan giants, but he seems unlikely to depart his job with Oranje, who have only just begun their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Ten Hag is second choice, having put his name in lights with Ajax’s Champions League run.
Ten Hag also linked with Bayern. So Barca link doesn’t suprise me. Tho Koeman link does tho he struggled at Everton is a good manager. Hopefully he wouldn’t leave National squad bc doing a good job.
Ugh…..terrible story if its true. Bad enough that Barcelona are poaching the best Dutch players, now they’re going after the best managers too.
The scary thing is if if they really want Koeman, they’ll get him. Everton coaxed him away from Southampton for $$$, and in this case it’ll be even easier as he has a very soft spot for Barcelona.
Won’t be good at all for the NT if he leaves. They need some stability and quality at manager at least through Euro 2020 after the instability and upheaval over the past few years.
