Ronald Koeman has questioned Danny Blind’s selection policy as Netherlands coach, especially the decision to constantly overlook Stoke City left-back Erik Pieters.

koeman soaiThe Everton coach was a guest on Tafel met Kees on Sunday morning and was asked about the current Netherlands national team. Koeman criticised the current selection policy of Danny Blind and wonders why Erik Pieters has been overlooked.

Koeman said, “Of course, Blind’s choices become more limited, but I think there is also some good players that are not called, but who do belong there.”

After naming Pieters, he added, “Playing every week for two or three years at Stoke City and he is doing just fine. What is the reason for not selecting that boy?

Koeman was overlooked for the Netherlands job in favour of Guus Hiddink when Louis van Gaal stepped down. The 53-year-old is still looking to take charge of Oranje in the future, “If I get a chance to be coach of Orange, I would still love to do it”
