Barcelona drew 1-1 with 10-man Alaves on Saturday, meaning they have now gone four league games without a victory.

The lost El Clasico last weekend was followed up with a victory over Juventus in the Champions League, meaning Barcelona headed to Alaves with a good feeling.

However, Ronald Koeman’s side that once again featured Frenkie de Jong from the start, struggled and fell behind in the 31st minute. Neto held onto the ball too long and was dispossessed by Luis Rioja, who capitalised on the error to score.

De Jong played as a centre-back in the second half and saw Barcelona put a lot of pressure on Alaves. In the 62nd minute, Jota Peleteiro was shown his second yellow card, meaning the hosts were down to ten-men.

A minute later, Antoine Griezmann equalised for Barcelona with a subtle finish. It seemed the Frenchman had netted his second after an excellent pass by De Jong, but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up.

Barcelona created plenty of chances before the end but they could not find the winning goal before the end, leaving Koeman frustrated in the league once again.

Barcelona stays in the bottom half of the table.
