Koeman played in plenty of games against Real Madrid as a player, but will experience his first as a coach on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he said, “Of course there is a lot of pressure, but I’m used to that. It is of course the best thing to play a Clásico, but I can no longer stand on the field, so I am glad that I can now experience it as a coach.”
Barcelona lost to Getafe last week, while Real Madrid was defeated by Cadiz and Shakhtar Donetsk in the past seven days. However, Koeman doesn’t think there results will play a role on Saturday, “I don’t think the results of the last matches will affect this match.
‘That applies to us, but also to Real Madrid. Real may not have made it to their level in his last two games, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be confident for tomorrow. It is a top team, with experienced players, and they know better than anyone that they have to win this match.”
