Ronald Koeman has confirmed his Netherlands squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers with Northern Ireland and Belarus.

On the 10th of October, Netherlands take on Northern Ireland before travelling to Belarus three days later.
Koeman has decided to drop Justin Kluivert, Terence Kongolo, Tonny Vilhena, Hans Hateboer, Wout Weghorst, Davy Pröpper and Jeroen Zoet from his provisional squad. Both Propper and Zoet have injury issues.
Feyenoord winger Steven Berghuis keeps his place, while Donny van de Beek is back after recovering from injury.

Many people will complain about Strootman being included and Weghorst being omitted, but the bottom line is Koeman is sticking with a 23 man team that has mostly yielded success over the past 18 months. As such, I see very little to criticize here.
My only real concern is RB, and specifically choosing Veltman over Hateboer. Veltman is not only a liability because of his (lack) of defensive prowess but his tendancy to make boneheaded decisions even when on a yellow card. Hateboer has had an excellent campaign and a lot more dangerous going forward.
Could you please indicate when and where Strootman has ever played anything ressembling football in any uniform. He is one of the most-overrated player EVER. USELESS. De Jong is just an average player and so is De Roon. What about Klaessen? The Netherlands will just qualify for the Euros and probably the world cup, but nothing else. Koeman has never done anything to write home about as a coach,anywhere. The only Dutch coach who actually seems to follow in the foot steps of the great Oranje managers is Peter Bosz. His teams are a joy to watch
Alright, I know the next few posts are going to be about Weghorst not making the final cuts. It’s not happening unless something happens to de Jong at this point so we can drop it. I like Hateboer and don’t know why he’s not getting the call over Dumfries. I know Veltman right? I like the guy and at the end of the day his lack of discipline reminds me of Nigel de Jong and it throws people off their game and he gets people worried about hard tackles and dead stops to protect the keeper. Not only that he plays RB and CB and decent at both really. Now Vilhena I don’t know why he’s not playing, I don’t believe he’s hurt, but it’s ok, not like he’s seeing a tonne of game time in the squad any way. As for Koopmeiners, Steng and Boadu, I think there is a bigger plan in place and that starts in the U21 squad. Last but not least Berghuis has been playing very well, and again, probably not starting but great off the bench. Other than that just bring Padt back over Vermeer and I’m happy, although I don’t think the person ripping tickets will be as joyous.
I do like Weghorst I think he offers something diff & been in great form if not playing Depay up front.
I agree about RB. And Boadu Stengs & Koop. Boadu Stengs & Idrissi have the most fluid front 3 IMO & Koop been great as Captain. Boadu & Steng are both versatile & especially first only 18 still his link up & all around play is great. He will up there soon & U21a squad is very strong
I wonder if JK is a bit unlucky to miss out also.
I think it’s a bit of luck and part of the plan. If he has no hope to start he’s better served in the U21’s. But should there be any injuries up front he may be the first called up.
