Kongolo pulled up with a hamstring injury at the end of Feyenoord’s 1-0 defeat at Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday and it has now been confirmed that he will miss Netherlands upcoming ties with Belgium and Luxembourg.
National team boss Danny Blind has decided to call in Bruno Martins Indi as a replacement for Kongolo. The versatile defender, who is currently on loan at Stoke City from Porto last featured for the Netherlands back in September 2015.
Feyenoord’s on loan winger Steven Berghuis has also been added to the squad as a replacement for the injured Quincy Promes, who pulled out on Friday.
Both are good replacement.
Martins Indi is a good move! We lack physicality in the Dutch side, aggression! Now, Martins Indi, may have a little too much of it, but it helps! Berghuis has been solid for Oranje and club this year, but de Roon, it is his turn! Schaars for de Roon! I like Schaars, but de Roon is having a great season!
