AZ have used the Cars Jeans Stadion as a home in recent weeks but on Sunday they were the away side as they faced ADO Den Haag.
The first half was a poor affair with neither side really going close. AZ lost midfielder Dani de Wit due to an injury after he clashed with Tom Beugelsdijk.
AZ improved in the second half and they came close through Calvin Stengs while Shaquille Pinas almost scored an own goal.
With fifteen minutes left, AZ were awarded a penalty when Bilal Ould-Chikh brought down substitute Albert Gudmundsson. Teun Koopmeiners made no mistake with his spot-kick to make it 1-0.
That proved to be the only goal of the game as AZ claimed their fourth league win of the campaign and they are now fourth. ADO sits 15th.
