Brandley Kuwas was in good form as Heracles defeated Groningen 2-1 to move into the top ten.

After some fine performances recently, Brandley Kuwas was once again mentioned as a possible call-up for Netherlands. In the 14th minute the winger burst into the box before calmly setting up Reuven Niemeijer to fire Heracles ahead.

Groningen improved after the opening goal and eventually got their reward a minute before the break. A handball by Jamiro Monteiro in the box was punished and Lars Veldwijk scored from the penalty spot to level.

Monteiro nearly made up for his error early in the second half but his effort was well saved by Sergio Padt. Heracles remained the better team throughout the second half with Kuwas particularly dangerous, but they couldn’t find a way past Padt.

In the 82nd minute, Kuwas burst into the box before he was taken down by Warmerdam. Jeff Hardeveld scored the resulting penalty to earn Heracles the three points.

Heracles jump to eighth while Groningen remain 15th.
