The KNVB has confirmed that both Dirk Kuyt and Rafael van der Vaart’s career with the Dutch national team will be honoured when Netherlands host Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

Wesley Sneijder was given his special send-off on Thursday, with the record cap holder for the Dutch national team playing an hour of the 2-1 win over Peru before a special tribute on the pitch after the game.

Now the KNVB has announced that Dirk Kuyt and Rafael van der Vaart will receive tributes during the UEFA Nations League match with Germany on the 13th of October.

A press release from the KNVB read, “Both ex-internationals are exponents of a generation that have brought football fans around the world and the Dutch Legion to ecstasy, in particular at several European Championships and World Championships. Because of their great earnings for Dutch football, they deserve a special evening when the Dutch Legion can say goodbye to their former heroes.”

Van der Vaart made 109 appearances for Netherlands, while Kuyt earned 104 caps.
