Sam Lammers scored his first goal for Heerenveen but VVV Venlo held the Frisians to a 1-1 draw.

The first half in Venlo was a poor affair but in the 32nd minute, Sam Lammers picked up the ball from a throw-in, turned past his marker before firing a strike past Lars Unerstall into the bottom corner to give Heerenveen the lead.

Michael Vlap and Arber Zeneli missed decent chances for Heerenveen to make it 2-0 and in the 69th minute, Patrick Joosten, who joined VVV on loan from Utrecht this week, netted the equaliser for the hosts.

VVV then looked for a winner but Heerenveen held on for a point.
