Noa Lang capped his first Eredivisie start with a hat-trick as Ajax came from 2-0 down to defeat FC Twente 5-2.

With Zakaria Labyad and David Neres out injured, Erik ten Hag handed 20-year-old attacking midfielder Noa Lang his first start in the Eredivisie.

Ajax dominated possession early on but apart from a few weak shots on goal, they barely threatened the home side. In the 15th minute, Twente broke forward and Keito Nakamura opened the scoring with a lovely curling effort into the net from the edge of the box.

Four minutes later, the Ajax defence was caught out again and Aitor slotted in a second for Twente. Ajax were then forced into a change with Quincy Promes going off with a knock and Klaas Jan Huntelaar came onto the field.

In the 32nd minute, Ajax pulled one back with Hakim Ziyech pulling the ball back for Lang to smash the ball into the net.

Ajax pushed for the equaliser which eventually came in the 51st minute. Donny van de Beek’s cross was flicked into the path of Lang, who once again made no mistake with his finish from close range.

Just after the hour, Ajax had the lead with Lang’s cross eventually finding its way to Huntelaar, who hammered a strike past Joel Drommel from the edge of the area.

With twenty minutes left, a huge mix up in the Twente defence left Lang with a simple tap-in to seal his hat trick and put Ajax 4-2 ahead.

Lang then took a knock and had to be replaced with ten minutes to go but Ajax then comfortably saw out the victory and in stoppage time, Huntelaar added a fifth after racing clear.

Ajax are now nine points clear at the top ahead of AZ playing later on. Twente remains in 12th.
