A sublime goal from Sam Larsson was enough to give Heerenveen their first victory of the season against PEC Zwolle.

larsso nBoth sides went into the game without a victory so far this season and the first half was a cagey affair with few chances. Queensy Menig forced Erwin Mulder into a great reflex save as the visitors went closest in the first forty-five minutes.

Sam Larsson has found himself out of the starting eleven so far this season, due to his attitude around a move away from the club but he was thrown on for the second half by Jurgen Streppel. The change worked a treat with the Swede smashing a perfect strike into the top corner early in the second half to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

The goal started a strong phase for Heerenveen, who created several chances to seal victory, with Pelle van Amersfoort, Reza Ghoocheannejhad and Stijn Schaars all denied by Mickey van der Hart. PEC Zwolle couldn’t mount a comeback and they have now gone four-game without a win and find themselves 17th, while Heerenveen move to 8th.
