Utrecht came from behind to defeat AZ Alkmaar 2-1 due to a late Ricardo van Rhijn own-goal.

After their 5-0 drubbing to Ajax before the international break, AZ looked to get their season back on track in Utrecht. After only three minutes they had the lead when Thomas Ouwejan crossed for Bjorn Johnsen to net from close range.

Utrecht then dominated the match but had to wait until the 36th minute to net the equaliser through Urby Emanuelson, who slid in a cross by Gyrano Kerk.

The second half was an even affair but it was Utrecht who nicked all three points two minutes from time when Ricardo van Rhijn sliced a shot from Sean Klaiber into his own net.

Utrecht now sit eighth in the table while AZ are 5th.
