matavzLazio have been interested in the Slovenian international for a while, having been linked with a move for the striker in the Summer, as they looked for a replacement for the ageing Miroslav Klose.

Now Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Lazio will once again try to negotiate with PSV over a transfer.

PSV signed the 25-year-old in 2011 from Groningen, with the striker netting 44 goals in 92 appearances for the club. This season has been a disappointing campaign for Matavz as injuries have restricted him to only 12 games, in which he has only managed four goals.

If Matavz was to leave the club, PSV do have back up options with Bryan Ruiz set to join the club from Fulham, while Jurgen Locadia has done well, filling in since the Slovenian’s injury.
