The Serie A side are looking for a new midfielder to replace the outgoing Lucas Biglia and have been linked with Marten de Roon for weeks. However, Middlesbrough wasn’t impressed with Lazio’s offer to initially loan the Dutchman before making the deal permanent in 2018 and demanded €13 million. That figure is too much for Lazio.
Il Messaggero is now reporting that Lazio have turned their attention to another Dutch international and are now hoping to sign Jordy Clasie, who spent most of last season as a substitute with Southampton. The former Feyenoord captain is reportedly allowed to leave the Premier League side on loan with the option to make the deal permanent for €10 million.
In two seasons with Southampton, Clasie has made 49 appearances, scoring only twice and adding one assist.
