Leeds United have confirmed the signing of former Ajax and Newcastle United defender Vurnon Anita.

The 28-year-old’s contract with Newcastle United ended at the end of the season, and Leeds United have swooped to sign the Dutchman on a free transfer.

Anita has signed a three-year deal with the Championship side, joining Mateusz Klich, who recently joined Leeds United from FC Twente.

The three-time Netherlands international made over 150 appearances for Ajax before joining Newcastle United in 2012 for a fee of €8.5 million. He made 155 appearances for the Magpies, netting three times.
